New PeopleNet/CAMS Integration Automates Tracking of Actual Route Delivery Information
Fleet managers have greater visibility into detailed planned vs. actual data about each stop and resource allocation
TAMPA, Oct. 26, 2010 – PeopleNet, the leading provider of innovative and integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems for effective fleet management, today announced that its Automated Workflow is now integrated with CAMS route optimization software to automate tracking of actual route delivery information. The announcement was made at the International Food Distribution Association’s 2010 Distribution Solutions Conference and Exhibition being held at the Tampa Convention Center today through October 27. According to PeopleNet Vice President of Tailored Solutions Randy Boyles, “We are pleased to partner with a leader in back-office transportation management systems for the grocery and retail distribution market. In addition to automating delivery of optimized routes to drivers, our new integration tracks actual arrival, departure and delays associated with each stop. Having planned vs. actual delivery information available in real time provides fleet managers greater visibility into driver/vehicle activities and helps them adjust allocation of driver and vehicle resources.”
At any given time, a PeopleNet user with a CAMS back-office system can retrieve in real-time information about a driver’s route, including arrival and departure times, delays, travel time and mileage. Drivers no longer have to spend time completing forms, and back-office personnel no longer have to enter data manually, which reduces errors.
According to CAMS Director of Technology David Gagnon, “Our integration with PeopleNet adds a unique dimension to CAMS—arrival information. While departure information has been available through other integrations, the addition of arrival information through PeopleNet’s Automated Workflow application and geofences provides complete real-time trip progress information.”
Mr. Gagnon added that PeopleNet has been an ideal integration partner. “CAMS prides itself on meeting and often exceeding client expectations regarding our products and services. Working together, PeopleNet and CAMS have been able to seamlessly integrate two proven systems in order to provide a high level of accurate and timely information.”
