PeopleNet Expands Network of Lane Departure Warning Integration Providers
Takata SafeTraK and Mobileye join Iteris as PeopleNet-certified partners
BOCA RATON, Fla., Aug. 15, 2011 – PeopleNet, the leading provider of innovative and integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems for effective fleet management, today announced that it has expanded its Lane Departure Warning integration network with the addition of two new partners Takata SafeTraK, and Mobileye. In making the announcement at the PeopleNet User Conference where Iteris and Takata SafeTraK are exhibiting, company Vice President of Product Management Matt Voda said, “Offering our customers a broad choice of providers helps mitigate one of the major cause of highway fatalities—lane departure due to drowsy, fatigued or distracted drivers. Fleets using a warning system report a 75 percent average decrease in truck lane-departure accidents.”
The system acts as an "extra set of eyes" for the truck driver. Programmed to recognize the difference between the road and lane markings, lane departure warning systems alerts drivers who are drifting out of a lane. The small, integrated unit consists of a camera, onboard computer and software that easily attaches to the windshield, dashboard or into the overhead console of a vehicle. With the PeopleNet Lane Departure integration, fleet managers have visibility to all lane departure events and can proactively use this data to identify individual driver trends that may need corrective coaching attention.
The ninth Annual PeopleNet User Conference is being held August 15-17 in Boca Raton, Fla., at the Boca Raton Resort. More than 700 attendees are taking advantage of 36 sessions designed to help maximize their return on investment and miles per gallon and reduce maintenance costs. About PeopleNet
