Major Dedicated and Truckload Carrier Selects PeopleNet for Mobile Computing and Communication

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - (July 31, 2006) - PeopleNet today announced that Evergreen Transportation Inc. has begun deploying PeopleNet g3 onboard-computing and mobile communications consoles to all of the company's 475 power units. PeopleNet is North America's leading provider of intelligent onboard and mobile communications solutions for the transportation industry.

Evergreen provides dedicated truck transportation primarily in the Southeast, and truckload service nationally, with a mix of dry van and flat bed trailers. The company is headquartered in Evergreen, Ala., and operates service centers in Mobile, Calera and Courtland, Ala., as well as Douglasville, Ga., and Cantonment, Fla.

While Evergreen is a long-time user of McLeod trucking enterprise software, this is the company's first adoption of mobile communications and computing technology.

"Our drivers wanted it, our customers wanted it and management did too," said Kathy Till, Chief Financial Officer.

According to Till, Evergreen considered "quite a few" competing options before deciding on PeopleNet. Among the factors that put PeopleNet over the top was its ability to generate valuable reports within the enterprise software system.

PeopleNet users can also log on to the PeopleNet web site from any Internet-connected computer. Through the web site, users can view their own fleet locations and message drivers. Till said the Internet option is important to Evergreen for two reasons.

"Hurricanes knocked us out a couple of times last year. Now even if our system is down, we know where our drivers are and can dispatch them over the Internet through PeopleNet," she explained. "And, the investment group that owns us is located in Washington, D.C. so the owners are not down here every day. Using the PeopleNet web site, they can look at our fleet any time they want."

"Evergreen and PeopleNet have a lot in common. We're both customer focused, flexible and good to our word. We're always looking for ways to do things better," said Ron Konezny, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for PeopleNet.

"We are very excited to provide Evergreen Transportation with the convergence of mobile communications and onboard computing. After an extensive evaluation of the leading providers, Evergreen chose PeopleNet to be their partner in providing both technology and service to help their highly successful and growing fleet. Our commitment to continuous innovation will help ensure our joint success," Konezny said.

Beyond its always-available fleet locating and communications services, PeopleNet's g3 wireless technology provides a wealth of practical functions, including -- but not limited to -- over-the-air software updates, vehicle and river performance monitoring, geo-fencing, and exception reporting. PeopleNet options range from automated driver logs and fuel tax reporting to handheld computer connectivity and proof-of-delivery signature capture.

PeopleNet is North America's most innovative and reliable provider of Internet-based onboard computing and mobile communications systems. Its transportation technology products are used by top truckload, LTL, private, and service fleets in the U.S. and Canada. PeopleNet was the first major technology provider to offer Internet-based communications to the transportation industry 12 years ago and now serves more than 1,000 customers, including many Fortune 500 companies.
