PeopleNet Appoints Randy Boyles Vice President of Integration Services

MINNEAPOLIS - June 28, 2004 - PeopleNet, the leading provider of onboard computing and mobile communications systems to North American transportation operations, announced today that Randy Boyles has joined the company's management team as Vice President of Integration Services.

In this capacity, Boyles will use his years of expertise in transportation technology, systems integration and software development to guide PeopleNet's overall technology integration strategies. Boyles will deliver the company's PeopleNet LinkTM product and a variety of integration services to transportation customers in the United States and Canada.

"Randy joins PeopleNet at an exciting time and will be a tremendous asset in expanding the company's integration footprint and services," said Vikas Jain, Chief Technology Officer for PeopleNet. More than 70 percent of the PeopleNet customer base requires integration with a back office system to optimize use of the company's platform.

"PeopleNet continues to innovate aggressively with new applications like Automated Messaging, eDriver Logs®, and Driver Directions, to name a few. Randy's proven leadership and experience is going to play a key role in increasing the depth and breadth of systems integration with our partners," said Jain.

Boyles is a 26-year veteran of information technology for the transportation industry. Prior to joining PeopleNet, he was president of R. Boyles Systems Integration, Inc., where he designed and developed turnkey software solutions that enabled rapid integration with PeopleNet.

Having worked with PeopleNet for the past 18 months, Boyles created PeopleNet Link, a network appliance that functions as a self-contained, out-of-the-box integration solution for PeopleNet applications. Consisting of a hardware platform and a thin-client application service, PeopleNet Link is successfully in use by seven PeopleNet customers and continues to be widely accepted by transportation companies nationwide.

Along with managing the distribution of PeopleNet Link, Boyles will oversee integration and development efforts with PeopleNet's more than 40 dispatch software partners as well as provide software support and web services to customers through PeopleNet's XML-based open interface.

"As the use of technology in our industry increases, the best end-to-end business solutions come from partnerships between companies that are at the top of their specialties," said Randy Boyles. "I am privileged to have the opportunity to build upon the advanced solutions already in place between PeopleNet and other transportation technology leaders."

Boyles' experience encompasses most major operating systems, from mainframe to distributed architectures. Boyles has directed the development and implementation of several large-scale LAN/WAN systems for Piedmont Airlines, US Airways, and Sabre, Inc. Prior to that, Boyles served as president and vice president of operations for Melton Technologies, Winston-Salem, N.C., where he was responsible for sales, operations, development and finance. He has a bachelor of science from Duke University and a master of arts in communication from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The PeopleNet g2x system has become the standard for GPS-based location tracking, two-way voice and data communications, and Internet-based fleet business tools to provide consistent, reliable communication between business owners, dispatchers, drivers and shippers. A key feature of the system is OTAPTM (over-the-air programming), which allows PeopleNet to make system upgrades without taking vehicles off the road.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, PeopleNet is the fastest-growing provider of Internet-based onboard computing and mobile communications systems to the long-haul transportation and metro-based fleet industries. The company serves carriers throughout the U.S. and Canada and recently signed its 1,000th customer.
