PeopleNet Releasing Pair of New Onboard Computing Features in First Quarter
Detention Time Reporting and Onboard Event Recording to be delivered wirelessly through PeopleNet's over-the-air programming and web interface
LAS VEGAS - TRUCKLOAD CARRIERS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONVENTION, March 7, 2005 - In the spirit of delivering continuous innovation to transportation operations, PeopleNet announced today that it has developed two new features that will be delivered to customers wirelessly through over-the-air programming (OTAP) and the company's web-based interface as part of the company's first quarter product update.
Detention Time Standards Reporting builds on the PeopleNet Activity Standards platform and allows accurate measurement and easy reporting of detention times. Onboard Event Recording gives fleets second-by-second recorded data to help reconstruct accidents and review driver performance. Both features are currently in the beta-testing phase and will be commercially available at the end of March.
"PeopleNet listens to its customers, prioritizes their requests, and every quarter delivers a bundle of enhancements that will add value to their operations," says Brian McLaughlin, vice president of marketing and product planning, PeopleNet. "This quarter is no different with the release of detention time reporting and onboard event recording. These industry-leading applications, capable because of our powerful g3 onboard computer and delivered rapidly due to OTAP, are a step above others that are available today because of their functionality and benefits."
With Onboard Event Recording, fleets determine what events are recorded and how they are recorded. Then, they can be transferred in real-time delivering details such as time of event, odometer at time of event, vehicle speed, engine speed (RPM), GPS location and direction.
Detention Time Reporting from PeopleNet provides fleets with the information they need to reduce waiting time, improve driver productivity, and enforce accessorial fees. This real-time tool
calculates average detention times across customer locations and allows users to produce reports that can be used to assess applicable detention fees back to customers.
Detention Time Reporting is an enhancement to Activity Standards and provides fleets with:
*
Summary reporting that is configurable across multiple customer locations, specific legs of a trip, and/or specific groups of vehicles within a fleet
*
Exception reporting for viewing only data that is over or under company-defined thresholds
